{"id":1345,"date":"2021-01-06T16:51:49","date_gmt":"2021-01-06T16:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/touchupdirect.com\/blog\/?p=1345"},"modified":"2024-07-09T20:49:13","modified_gmt":"2024-07-09T20:49:13","slug":"ducati-superleggera-v4-vs-1299-superleggera-weight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/touchupdirect.com\/blog\/?p=1345","title":{"rendered":"Ducati Superleggera V4 vs. 1299 Superleggera Weight! | TouchUpDirect"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ducati Superleggera V4 vs 1299 Superleggera Weight!\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qmwNrY7T5JY?start=17&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today I\u2019m taking and comparing weights for the Ducati Superleggera V4 (SL V4) and the 1299 Superleggera(1299 SL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Ducati, the SL V4 with the race kit has 335 lbs dry weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With stock exhaust it has 350 lbs dry weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the 1299 with stock exhaust the dry weight is 344 lbs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the race kit the weight is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gas tanks:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The V4 has capacity of 4.2 gallons &#8211; that translates to 26.5 lbs of gas when full.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The 1299 has a capacity of 4.5 gallons &#8211; that translates to 28.5 lbs of gas when full.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both bikes were weighed after driving 2.6 miles from the gas station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Changes I\u2019ve made to the bikes that will affect weight<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I removed mirrors, turn signals, and tail section from the SL V4 it to prepare for riding at the Laguna Seca race track. When I measured before removing these components, it was 400 lbs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 1299 has a tail tighty, but no turn signals on the front.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Weights of Ducati Superleggera V4 vs. Ducati 1299 Superleggera<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SL V4&nbsp;&nbsp;weights between 397 and 398 lbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1299 SL weights 384 lbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Accounting for gas difference, the 1299 is about 16 lbs lighter.
