If you truly love your car, you get it presents, and by presents, we mean accessories<\/a>.  Adding interior accessories to your Lexus<\/a> is the gift that keeps giving. Everytime a new person gets in it, they get a chance to enjoy the pleasant surprising features that make your car unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are all the ways you can change your Lexus to add to its comfort, performance, and lustre?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s look at the top choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gear shifter knob <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Changing your gear shifter to a custom knob can be one of the most fun accessories. Want to switch it to a baseball? Cool, do it. How about screaming goblin\u2019s head? Fine, whatever floats your boat. If you\u2019re into a more toned-down approach you can also replace boring metal and plastic with a knob that matches other elements of your interior such as leather seats or wood veneers.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switching gear shifter knobs in a manual car is easy and takes seconds.  To remove it, just snap off the leather gaiter if there is one and unscrew the knob counterclockwise. Replacing a knob on an car with automatic transmission can be a bit harder – it may have an operations button that must be configured to match up with a button on your new knob, but it is doable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Illuminated door stills <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a great OEM accessory you can buy directly from Lexus. Illuminated door stills fit in the door jam of your car and light up to display the Lexus name when you open the door, providing an extra bit of safety in style. They use fiber optic technology, transmitting light from the body of the car so the bulb won\u2019t be damaged if you accidentally step on it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

OEM or aftermarket?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you have the option for OEM vs. an aftermarket accessory for the interior, it\u2019s best to err on the side of OEM. Aftermarket components may stick out in sharp contrast to the luxury components of your Lexus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installation of illuminated door stills can be slightly difficult and requires a little bit of careful wiring but still may be accomplished in about an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rear view mirror accessories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Proceed with caution before hanging fuzzy dice or anything else from your rearview mirror. In most states it is illegal to put anything up that obstructs the drivers vision. If you have any doubts, consider hanging your bling from the back of your headrest instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for Lexus appropriate rear mirror accessories, you could consider paying homage to your car\u2019s country of origin and hang a Japanese Fusa, Tsuna or Mystic Knot. Originally used to provide protection and good luck, hanging these knots was popularized in Japan modders as part of the VIP style, a movement where luxury cars were made to look even more luxurious with a lower and wider stance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Windshield sunshade<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Protect your leather seats from damaging UV rays<\/a> and keep your car from getting too hot. Vented seats can only do so much! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pitfall: Reping the F Sport insignia on a non F Sport Lexus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you don\u2019t have an F Sport car, we recommend not having F sport logos anywhere on your car. It\u2019s false advertising!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neck pillows <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Car seat headrests weren\u2019t designed to be comfortable. They were made to reduce the effects of whiplash. Add a neck pillow to step up the comfort and neck support for a long drive. Neck pillows can also be easily personalized with your own custom logo or name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seat covers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s hard to make seat covers look luxuriant. They also can be a fire hazard if you have heated seats. We recommend if you don\u2019t like the surface of the seat to replace the seats entirely. Put in race seats if you\u2019d like, just make sure you also buy the right bracket to mount them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional lighting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a myriad of options for additional lighting. You can replace dome lights, run track leds around your glove compartment or have a led projection of the Lexus<\/p>\n\n\n\n

logo shine from your doors when you open them. If there\u2019s wiring involved, typically these projects are not for beginners, but there are battery powered installations that are very easy such as the door lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pitfall: curtains and tint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Putting up curtains in your Lexus might be one way to make it look like an extra luxuriant limousine, but it also is illegal in the states. Be wary of any device that obstructs vision. Instead of putting up curtains, consider tinting your windows, but also beware: each state has different legal limits for how much tint you can put in each window. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing makes your car feel as personalized as doing customization work on it yourself. Have fun experimenting and changing how your Lexus looks. Remember – when it comes to customization, it\u2019s what\u2019s on the inside that counts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
